I was chatting with HP support personal regarding this issue, he said I have to install SATA driver, which I think is the SATA AHCI driver that we have to put into diskett & during xp installation we've to press F6. But I still can't find the driver yet.
He also said that the laptop may not be compatible with XP, so install vista instead.

Have you use sp39719 for amd sata driver?
here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3687621&prodNameId=3687622&swEnvOID=1093&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ob-61695-1

Extract it and use data from RAID7xx folder for amd sata driver.

or it would be the same files if you download from gigabyte site here:
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Driver_DownloadFile.aspx?FileType=Driver&FileID=3676

Sorry I dont understand you correctly,
which driver do you need?

If I may guess the unknown drivers are:
1. HP Quick Launch Buttons
2. JMB38X Card Reader
3. ENE CIR Receiver Driver
4. or more

In some HP models, vista driver also works with HP.

Try installing Vista driver from this site:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3752107&lang=en

Good luck

Could u two please list down all the drivers that has been installed so that some one else (Rakhmad probably) could identify which drivers that u haven't installed yet.

I've installed vista on my laptop & planned to buy another one. I'm still planning to install XP if this drivers' problem is solved.

2) in the nlite tutorial, i do not see SATA driver being mentioned, if i'm going to follow exactly what the tutorial given, will it work?
3) I need to do this slipstream process in my

Bro Phuoc Trong Nguyen the brightness issue is still being tested and searched for use with windows xp. Hp currently said that this brightness control for this laptop series is still under developement and unreleased for windows xp use. but if you badly need something to dim the screen brightness try DimScreen here:

And for Johnson Ting pls try to use the latest Adobe Reader probably version 8 or 9.

Hi Quek Yang,

Compaq Notebook CQ45-129TX use intel chipset and X4500 video graphic.

For this model you need to use ICH9 sata driver from intel.

Intel Matrix Storage Manager Floppy Configuration Utility
here:
http://tinyurl.com/5nbgqd

Use Nlite to streamline ICH9 sata driver.

Intel Chipset,(install and reboot before other drivers):
http://tinyurl.com/54r6dt

here for Intel X4500 video:

I recommend you to start a new thread, so that everybody can help you.

You might get something like "your computer is designed for windows vista" from their staffs.

But all computers are designed to work with any operatings systems, even with Dos , Windows 3.1 linux or other programs.

If your computer is using a new chipset that won't recognise your harddisk , you might want to try what I tried , though it took me almost 48 hours to figure it out with HP online support , they didn't help me solve the what I need.

try http://juncomshop.blogspot.com you'll get your answer and figure out how to install windows xp without any problems.

If you don't know what chipset your computer has , you can get the details from HP contact center. At least they must know what they sell. they must know from what manufacturer they get the motherboard.

For some or everybody's info this laptop COMPAQ CQ40-115AU "is not equiped" with any type or form of built-in Bluetooth capability, so i guess getting a usb Bluetooth is the only option. It's bad this laptop is not equiped with a Bluetooth because Bluetooth is definately a common function in all laptops and devices now. HP could not confirm weather this laptop has a bluetooth too.

My CQ40-107au running on WindowsXP has been running for 71c constantly for more than an hour now. And all I'm doing is some hard excel and some database testing.

HP guys, are these figures even normal? Does these model series really run this hot? If so, what are your resolutions to this? (aside from migrating to some snowy country to working in a fully airconditioned room all the time).

So much for laptop life. If this goes on this way, my CQ40's lucky to get past two months of use.

hmm... seems like I've not seen anyone from HP do us any good aside from givin' their usual spiel about the CQ40 series only supporting Vista.

This just means the Vista sales team from Microsoft's did a really good job negotiating customer sales contracts with the HP/Compaq guys.  Waah!

Well anyway, good thing is that HP's quick to replace their "overheating" units with new ones.  I just had mine replaced with a new unit.  It's not overheating that much now... but still runs hot though.

Yep, uptil now only user to user support for XP as OS.

If VISTA was not having to much problems, I would gladly use it. I'd rather to wait for Windows 7 and skip VISTA.

Your motherboard had already been replaced?
Wow, seems HP/Compaq do NOT learn from V3000Z series overheat problems.

Yes, AMD processor generate heat more than intel, however, that issue has already known well and could be overcome.

To all those people that have some type of ahcix64.sys is corrupt, using AMD sata drivers.

The problem is that your txtsetup.oem file still has the 64bit drivers in it.
you can either edit the file and remove any reference to it. i have an example with and without the 64bit drivers.

txtsetup.oem with 32bit drivers only
