I have a HP NX7300 in for repair (celeron version). its very very slow and laggy.

I had been performing a malware/spy/virus clean up using all the latest tools -AviraPEclassic,UnibluePowerSuite, Superantispyware,Spyhunter,etc..

This all took much longer than most other PC's I have worked on. (even after adding another 1GB RAM).
Also the CPU is reporting 100% CPU usage, and the laptop struggles to re-draw most windows,, and feels super lagged.  ( i have switched to "Windows Classic Theme", and reduced any graphics options.

I have now performed a recovery of VISTA using the factory (F11) image, etc...

This machine is still very very slow, could there be a problem with Voltage to CPU, or stepping or CPU fan,  Everything else seems to check out ok.

-Tested HDD (externally)
-Tested RAM (externally)
-Tested OS (Re-installed)

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, as I cant face turning it on again!

Thanks

What application or applications are taking up the CPU?

Well, really its just IDLING, (system idle process 80-100%),

Every task launched takes very long, even tho its a clean install, from recovery.

I tried different Ram, and very other trick i know.

I now understand from the customer who brought it in, this laptop has had a mainboard replaced 4 months ago (thanks for telling "me").

So, can i assume that the cooling / cpu / power is defective, and messing with that CPU.

Thanks for your input still. =]
