Thanks Raj. I got the bluetooth working. But my biggest problem now is sound driver and probably the modem besides the device manager shows 7 unknown devices. I am unable to do the BIOS update as I do not have DOS bootable device and OS. Is there anyway I can do it through windows.Incidentally the device manager shows sound drivers as installed and does not show any modem. |

Please note that the above sound drivers work only on XP with SP3. The procedure is same as mentioned above however with SP2 sound and modem do not work. So pls ensure that you have XP with SP3 only. |

Hi raj chugh,
From your list drivers, Seems to be the BIOS update was the key to solve IDT sound driver.
This version of BIOS may not HP "official" BIOS since it was not listed in HP ftp site.
Could you give more detail of this BIOS? i.e for Intel or AMD?
What is the version of this Bios? I could not download the BIOS, could you upload it somewhere else? |

Hello, BIOS updation will affect the Motherboard. You can try the below steps to install Audio
After loading XP OS, pls. follow the following steps after installing MSUAA & High Definition Audio Drivers (suggested links are given below),
Step 1: Extract (do not run the contents directly) the attached files to a folder in CQ series laptop.
Step 2: You can find a file devcon.zip which needs to be unzipped and the 3 sub file contents will automatically go into a Temp folder
Step 3: Copy the devcon.bat file to system 32 folder in windows.
Step 4: Run the file audiopatch.exe which will take only 2 sec. to get installed.
Step 5: Install Chipset drivers and reboot the machine.
P.S: You can download MS High Definition Audio Package & UAA (Lang.exe) which are tested by me personally and working fine with both Intel & Celeron.
Audio - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldId=11036&lang=eng
Once you install the above package, pls. run Lang.exe from the following link
UAA - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldId=11597&lang=eng |

Hi raj chugh,
I appreciate your intention to help others. However, updating BIOS is a serious matters.
Not all of HP forum users here are as qualified as yours. I found two of them were having problem after updating their BIOS. here: http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1280249
Please explain in more detail the precaution should be taken. Which models are fully compatible and tested and the most importantly is the consequences that they will have if the process were not running as it should.
Installing a wrong drivers would not give them any harms, while installing a a wrong BIOS would .... :(
Hopefully, you did not take this comments personally.

Many thanks for the drivers. All is working great!
----
on a side note, for those who are having trouble about the audio you must first flash the bios to f11.c then install winxp and follow the steps carefully.
like 1. MUAA then vga then audio
and so forth.... |

My Name is Abu and i just bought a new Compaq Presario CQ40-144tu notebook without OS, I am trying to Install vista but it stops in the Completing Installation stage and goes no further. I have tried most of the TS steps which was available on the net. Now i have come to a conclusion that its because of the SATA AHCI mode should be disabled in BIOS. But the problem is there is no such option in My notebook's bios to disable it, Can anyone please help me in this? |
