Hello,
I have been trying to find answers for this for really long time.
I am trying to hook up 3 monitors to dc7800.
How can I do this?
HP customer service suggested a way that I need to install a second PCIe video card.
But dc7800 does not come with second PCIe slot?
I am so frustrated with HP customer service, first of all they research this for like 40-50 mins on the phone and when they do suggest a solution, it's not practicle.
Can someone help me.
Thank you,
Abhi

Your best solution would be to get a dual head (two monitor) PCI-E x16 graphics card which would give you two monitors from a single PCI-E card. Then install a PCI graphics card for your third monitor.
You could also use the onboard graphics and install the HP ADD2 card which will give you a second monitor, digital only, off the onboard graphics. Then add a PCI graphics card for your third monitor.
You could use the onboard graphics and add a PCI dual head graphics card for your second and third monitors.
I believe that Matrox has a three head external graphics adapter box.
Well I did try getting a PCI card. But people at the store told me that I will never be able to do that because the video signal will only come to PCIe card. And they discourged me to buy it. They told me that if you have two PCIe cards then with SLI technology I would be able to do that, but with PCIe and PCI combo I won't be able to power up three monitors.
So here is what I would really appreciate if you can tell me. I already have a dual PCIe card where I am already running two (Samsung Syncmaster flat screen)monitors. Can you tell me which PCI card would you suggest I should buy which will be compatible with my existing PCIe video card. The third monitor I will be powering up will be a NEC MultiSync FE950+ CRT monitor.
I've done this on a dc7700 and a dc7900. Both solutions involved 2 video cards. Here's what you need to find: a PCIe x1 video card that uses the same manufacturer of chipset (ATI or nVidia) as your main PCIe x16 video card. I used a HIS X1550 on my dc7700. The dc7800 appears to have several open PCIe x1 slots, so you should be good there. Of course, the dc7900 has 2 PCIe x16 slots, so...
And for the love of mike, go to newegg.com or something like that for a video card, not a local store.
I don't know why you did not get this answer from HP but the only supported configuration for the 7800 is to use the NVidia Quadro NVS 290 card. You will need the x16 and the x1 card from HP. If you do not have this then you should get matching chipset x16 and x1 video cards. As soon as you put an x16 in the PCI-e slot the onboard video should be disabled. Like I said thought this is the only HP supported method.
