Is this something to do with Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Media Player 11.
All of a sudden I am no longer able to burn cds, new ones, or compilations of music already on pc.
When I put a new cd in cd/dvd drive it just spits it out. I have tried various makes of recordable cd.

Beverley, it is best when you start a thread to include the make/model of your computer. This is regardless of the topic. We use the specs of your computer to help diagnose the problem. It sounds like a firmware update may be needed, but I won't know until I see the specs.

Say thanks with HP POINTS!

Not a problem. I wanted you to know for the next time you come here. Hopefully, this will be a long time from now.

I am unable to find any specs on the model that you provided. Could you have left out a number or letter?

Beverley, that did it. Sorry to say, but I have been unable to find anything that sounds like your problem. So, let's try this. Go into the Control Panel. Find the Device Manager/CD/DVD ROM drives and uninstall the CD/DVD drive. Then, reboot the system. Windows will find new hardware and reinstall it. If it was a glitch, this may fix it.

Let us know what happens.

One more alternative is to get a commerial DVD cleaner disk and follow the instructions included with it and see if that will fix your proplem.
