Hello!
Yesterday I tried to read a CD with photos. My nx6110 freezed. After trying to reboot it freezed for few minutes on HPlogo screen. If I press F10 it shows"entering setup". In both situation(with or without F10) after few minutes it shows "Drivelock multibay password".
Nothing was changed in this computer, all hardware is the same for 18 months when I bought it brand new from store.
Anyone can help me?

Hey Michal,
Saw this before on a NC6220. Try removing
the CD/DVD player. Normal it should be gone
then. (I had to replace the CD/DVD drive)
Succes

I'm having the same issue with a NC6230. Must be some bug floating around. I yanked the HDD & external DVD out, and pulled the RTC battery out for an hour. After an hour I hooked the RTC back up and powered the system back up on AC only. I can get into BIOS, but the setting for Drive lock is still greyed out. Is this set in the TPM chip? The BIOS must get reset because it says time/date incorrect. Short of replacing the M/B is there any fix for this? |

I hate to revive this thread but does replacing the CD/DVD drive definatly work, I suppose it could also be loose. I have an nx6110 doiing the same thing every once in a while. I have some spare nx6110's so hopefully this will resolve it. |

I just started having the same periodic problem with my HP nc6220 - right after I loaded Norton Internet Security. Wonder if there's any connection or just coiincidental. |

Hello
I went to my vendor. They fixed it. It seems that the reason was some dust on the dvd driver.
I learned how to take the dvd drive out form the case for future problem.
Does it makes sense to you?
Thanks for your offer to help-. best wishes mario |

I have a nc6230 that is giving me the error message(DriveLock Multibay Password)on startup. Took the DVD drive out and put the DVD drive back in. Make sure that the DVD drive seat and the spring is not pushing the DVD player out. If the spring is pushing on the DVD player, push it in again. Do this until the spring is reset with no tension on the DVD player. Then put the set screw back in the DVD player. You should not have to hold the DVD player to put the screw back in, If you do then the spring is not reset. Also, Make sure that the computer power is off. |
