I've tried all 3 levels of cleaning the printhead and changed the black cartridge to no avail. Any ideas?

Cyan (blue)is printed under black to make it black. You probably need a new black printhead Search the internet for C4810A or contact your usual consumable supplier.

How does changing the printhead differ from changing the cartridge? Excuse my ignorance, I know next to nothing about printers...

The printhead contains the nozzles that squirt the ink on the paper to make the printout. The cartridge is an ink resevoir.
