Hi,
I have an NC6320 with a restriction on the resolution. The only choices that I can set are 800x600 or 1024x768.
I have downloaded SP37718 which supposedly fixes this as it appears to be a known bug but to no avail.
Has anyone experienced this before, and if so, how did you get round it?
I am sure that the resolution can be changed to a greater degree as I have seen it myself on other laptops of the same model.

model of these other laptops can be the same, but they can have different physical LCD screens inside (and it's limiting supported resolutions). If you have crisp & sharp picture in 1024x768 (compare it with 800x600 displayed on full screen area), you can't do anything (excluding replacing physical LCD screen of course).

ah, well..
The screen is sharp and I have not had any problems, it is just that I would have liked to have had a finer resolution.
Thanks for the info.

you can always compare P/N from these latpops with P/N from your. If they're different and nothing wasn't replaced inside, you will have probably different components inside (and LCD screen can be different too).

you can try to search for specification for your P/N on HP site too (if it still exist).

Hello,

I broke my screen of a NC6320, and i buy a replacement one, but it is a SXGA+.

And apparently the old one was XGA..

Is it a way to upgrade the resolution to be compatible ?

Kind regards

Hi Yann,

Based on the attached information, your new replacement screen should work, you will get better resolution

Good luck,

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.

The screen has been replaced, but only the backlight is working.

The screen is lightened, but there is no picture on it.

If i change from XGA to SXGA+, do i need to do something special or the resolution'll be automatically changed ?

Regards

Hi,

Please check "Display properties" (XP) or under "Persionalized" to see what are there. One more check is check "Device Manager" to see how the system "see" new screen. Update video driver would also help but please try above points first.

Hello,

Windows is working like if the screen was avaible.

I can change the resolution, and i see the screen stop to be ligntened, and then reactivate.

But i can't get a picture on it.
The same problem on the BIOS, no picture.

I just update the graphic card and the bios, always no picture.

Any idea ?

Regards,

Yann
