Hi geo
If you see an icon with numbers "123" in the title bar - then XT9 (text input program) is in number mode. Press and hold the star key "*”, the XT9 menu will popup, select the desired mode.

Hi geo

I’m happy to help
No need to use factory recovery.
Open the Input Settings (Start/Settings Personal tab then Input) select XT9 as your Input method. Yes, pressing the * key will only pop up the XT9 menu when XT9 is selected as the input method (unless you use a registry tweak :) and it must also be in text entry mode – a blinking cursor.
I found on my 614 (Bootloader Version: MP-1.00.0.1) that the XT9 features (word completion, correction, next word prediction) only worked when XT9 was the input method also the default on screen keyboard’s word-completion features did not work (I suspect it was disabled perhaps by XT9…) Anyway I got XT9 to work with Microsoft’s on screen keyboard (I prefer it to the XT9 keyboard) by using that tweak.

When you get XT9 working – to get symbols press and hold the # key.
In word pressing the return key closes word! I wish it started a new line like in outlook and text messages – you need to press the thumb wheel to start a new line in word.

Hi geo
The strange A's with symbols in my mail were meant to be dashes and apostrophes, it is a paste error.

The problem may be with pcm keyboard, I'm not sure if it can recognise key presses on the keypad. When you open word and enter text with pcm keyboard do you have a keyboard icon on the bottom bar or the XT9 symbol? Does the default on-screen keyboard work? (you can change input methods by tapping on the small triangle right next to the keyboard or other input icon on the bottom bar).
Try to get keypad and XT9 working with the pcm keyboard uninstalled.

Press and hold the hash key (not the 3 key) to pop up symbol selection, this will work when you can enter text and XT9 is active.

I know you can get numbers but check Start/Settings on the System tab tap Keyboard, make sure the keyboard is not disabled.

Thanks for Easter wish.

Zondy THANKS
It was pmc keyboard that had messed up the whole thing
i factory revored and everything was ok until i installed 4 the second time pmc and had the same problem all over again .
so im conmfirming that is pmc keyboard side effect
after the second factory reset i installed a cad that disables xt9 and let you type greek-english greeklish as we call them
next was resco keyboard that can handle greek
my unit is english not greek
fa992aa#abb
the greek unit is not yet available and hp told me that i CANT probably make it Fa992aa#ab7 through firmware update
at list i found a a half way solution

My greetings and my Thanks to you

george
