I have successfully completed full downgrade of DV 6850 ee from Vista to XP. Below are the Soft PAQS from HP which I used. Hope this saves a lot of time for others:

1. Video Driver NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS (Not a softPAQ)
   Can be downloaded from NVidia

All Other SoftPAQs froom HP
2. HP Quick Buttons    - sp38171.exe
3. Intel Chipset       - sp36880.exe
4. Intel Matrix Storage    - sp38088.exe
5. Intel PROWireless       - sp38439.exe
6. Light Scribe        - sp36971.exe
7. SATA Support            - sp32478.exe
8. Modem SM56 Motorola         - sp37811.exe
9. Synaptics Touchpad  - sp37065.exe
10. Webcam             - sp33544.exe
11. Wireless Assistant         - sp36770.exe

The following should be installed in the same order:
12. Universal High Def Audio   - sp33867.exe

13. RealTek High Definition Audio Driver R1.51 (Not a softPAQ)
        Can be downloaded from RealTek

14. High Def Bluetooth         - sp32883.exe

15. Ethernet Card - RealTek GbE & FE Ethernet PCI-E NIC Driver
   File Name: Ethernet RTL8168_8101E_Windows_668.zip
        Can be downloaded from RealTek

It took whole 2 days for me to figure out all these

XP drivers from V6700TX will work for your model. Install Intel Chipset Installation Utility for ICH8 first and reboot before other drivers.

(see below also before continuing with other drivers):

Some of the drivers require .Net,MS UAA and Windows Installer 3.1 first.

MS UAA(required with a reboot before Realtek audio):

.Net Framework(before QL):

Windows Installer 3.1(before wireless):

You may have Broadcom or Intel Wireless.

You have to provide the SATA driver,either using a USB Floppy or my preferred method of slipstreamng the driver and burning a new XP cd.

This is the sata driver for your machine.

Download and run it,make a floppy OR cancel floppy creation.The files will be extracted to C:\Swsetup\sp37005 to use with Nlite.

You can use Nlite to integrate the drivers into a new XP install cd.Nlite will even burn the new XP cd.
Very easy really,just follow the guide below closely.
