Hi!

I got a Hp nc6400 Laptop with a Intel duo T7200 processor.. A couple of weeks ago it started running very very slow.. The task manager showed that the CPU was working 100% and explorer being the one that took the most CPU. So i thought it was a virus or a trojan, so i ran spybot, trojan remover, Nod 32, and adaware.. i found some spyware and trojans and removed them sucsessfully but the problem remained.

So i desided to reinstall xp and format the whole harddrive. I did this..but still it was running very very slow. So now i installed windows vista. and after a good 5 hours (!) it was done. But it is still running slow. Vista rated the processor 1,1 witch should indicate some problem.

I have changed the power settins to maximum performance, and still it doesnt work.

I also noticed that HP batterycheck says that the cells on my battery is broken and that it needs to be replaced, but when i put the same battery in my other laptop (nx6320) it says the battery is fine!..

Please help me!!

here is a dump from CPU-Z if it helps:

Hi,

A lot of info about your machine - anyway I would try the follpwing steps

1. Do a complete clean up and defrag your HDD, keep around 20% spare space.
2. Increase RAM to 2Gb or more (check the machine first to see it can handle 4Gb, but 2Gb should be ok).

Regards,
BH

Hi there. Did you ever resolve this problem? I am experiencing the exact same problem as you did. I would be very grateful if you could assist on how you resolved this issue. I don't think this is a software problem, maybe a BIOS problem. This is so because these machine just go slow all of a sudden and without any prior system changes such as O.S patches. Please help.

i got the same prob with the nc6400, i thought it was because of the native sata, so i made a winxp boot cd with the drivers for the sata hdd but and it work perfect until i get to the windows installation phase, it runs real slow like in slow motion, think its cause of the ati video driver so when i reinstall it i will check on if i have the same prob and reply a new note...

I've just run into the same issues you've run into w/ regards to HP's NC6400.

Just as yours did, mine also ran at 100% CPU usage. Same senerio, I reinstalled windows which took a rediculous 3 hours to complete and still, I am having problems.

Please let me know if you've had any luck finding a solution.
Thanks,
Jason
