Author Subject: TC4400 with Win 7      Add to my favorites

I searched and searched only to be let down over and over. But I'm here to tell you that if you want to install Windows 7 on your TC4400, you're in luck and it can be done.

Ditch Vista and migrate to Win7 ASAP, you will not regret it.

Win7 loads almost ALL the drivers you will need for your TC. However, it seems Microsoft still doesn't know what a card reader is, nor do they understand fingerprint readers and the necessary software.

Please note this is for Win7 x64. I didn't see the use for x86 using C2D chips and 4GB PC5300 ram.

Service packs (vista 64bit os) you WILL need:

sp38607 - Media card
sp39199 - Biometrics
sp40139 - Quick launch

Software:

sp35640 - Verisoft (biometric software)

Side notes:

Software that functions well:

Roxio 9 basic
WinDVD (sp34705)
McAfee Antivirus (so far as beta)

Software that is a waste of time:

sp37970 - Wireless assistant
HP ProtectTools (All of them)

Lastly, you do NOT need all the updates and service packs from HP. Only what I've listed here.

That is all. Load and enjoy!

Yes, ditch Vista, I never used it as productiion system, go for Win7, you won't want to go back to XP.
Roxio and WinDVD I don't use, Norton 3.0 runs fine after some updates.

I do use the wireless assistent for disabling Bluetooth on my TC4400, am running Win7 RC German Ultimate x64 with 4 GB RAM on it.

Fingerprint drivers and software are delivered but not yet working, HP Protect Tools not working, on device yellow banged out in devman (ACPI\HPQ0004) but I guess that are the Tablet buttons (no drivers yet working).

Just that damned mouse jumping lives in each and every OS - seems to be a hardware problem :( :( :(

I don't know what is wrong with my computer, because i have installed 7 twice already on my TC4400, but it will not recognise my pen. I installed the wacom driver "PenTablet_505-7.exe" 4MB and my pen works for about 5 seconds after finishing the install, then stops.

ok I installed the driver again, and I found out that the pen is fully functional until I lift it away from the screen. So it works once, then stops.

Running Windows 7 32 on TC4400. Boots quickly

Didn't realise the TC4400 would run 64 bit windows :(

Have not cracked the fingerprint reader. Drivers downloaded by Windows 7 do not work.
SP39199 did not work.
Installed beta driver from Authentec but that needs a manager.
Probably need to go back and install the Windows 7 one.

QuickLaunch does not work off the pen buttons.

Everything else seems okay.

Downloaded the Wacom 7RC driver. Pen button is now Ctrl useful for multiple copy.

There seems to be some pressure control in Paint.

Aj,

Only the x64 dual cores will run the x64 OS. I used the drives from the vista package to get the biometrics working. You will need the security manager as well as the reader driver.

Hi all,

What about x86. I use my tablet for taking notes in school. OneNote x64 does not include "Print to OneNote" driver. What drivers work with x86 version of Windows 7. Thanks for the help.

Brett,
1.) There is a workaround for the OneNote x-64 printer problem:
"DavidRasmussen: OneNote Print Driver – A 64 Bit Solution"
http://blogs.msdn.com/david_rasmussen/archive/2009/04/22/onenote-print-driver-a-64-bit-solution.aspx

2.) There should be less problems with 32-bit Win7.
You may use Vista-drivers (as far as they are available). And in my tc1100 (for which no Vista drivers were offered by HP) some XP stuff works.

Win 7 x64

I couldn´t get the fingerprint sensor to work

I would need the Quick launch buttons, especially to activate the function keys on top of the screen

I would like to use the Protect Tools but the Vista 64 Softpacs doesn´t work.

Any solution??

the waacom driver sp34764 did activate the function buttons on top of the screen!!!

sp38266 the older quick launch buttons can be installed, but there is a warning that there is a problem with Win 7. If you click run program, they work. May be the problem occurs later.

sp37970 wireless assitant works!

now I can disable bluetooth :)

sp35640 Verisoft software doesn´t work. You can not register your fingerprints.
In the first windows you could use the fingerprint sensor, but without registration of fingerprints it is useless.

sp39199 authentec driver seems to work, but without software it is useless.

Use the search by the name of the program or driver.

Take the latest version for win7.

Latest versions of programs not on the list for TC4400, but they can be used
