I've seen this question a few times already, but haven't found an answer. Can you upgrade a 2530p with an aftermarket 1.8 inch SSD? I see hp sells one for 1400...in that case I might as well buy a new laptop. I have already purchased (and returned) a 1.8 inch ssd because it physically does not fit in the 2530p. Can anyone offer a suggestion or maybe close up pictures of your existing SSD in your 2530p. I really would like to see the connector and what the drive looks like so I can try to find one for my unit.

Hi,

Well, unless a very keen person otherwise very hard to find a person who is willing to open the case and take CU photos for you. There is a 2503p users group and they talk many things about this product. You can start from here:

I can suggest the Intel X18-M. I'm running the 80GB version in my 2530p. It fits and connects without any problem and it's very fast.

Nicolas,

Did you buy the SSD after market or did you buy the SSD pre-installed? What's the product number of your unit? It tired the 160gb version of that model and it didn't fit.

It's a Elitebook 2530p product number FU432EA. The original hard disc was the 120GB 1.8 modell.

I replaced it with an after market Intel X18-M 80 GB version, first generation (look for G1 in the product number). Have a look at Intel's spec sheet for the G1 model:

Looks like the 160 GB version is 8mm thick while the 80 GB is only 5mm thick. The 80 GB model fits perfect, I can imaging that 3mm more won't.

If you want the 160 GB version, perhaps the newer G2 version 160 GB will fit, at least, Intel only lists one height (5mm) for both models:
