Jason, if Crucial suggests memory, it is guaranteed to work or they will replace it at no additional cost to you.
I believe, however, while the higher speed memory will work (backward compatible), you will not gain any benefit from it. HP makes proprietary changes to their boards and if the specs say PC2700 that is the max speed provided.
Thanks! So I can go with 3200 and it will work, but I may not get the benefit from it... Does this have anything to do with the bios? For ex, if I have someone re-write it, could I go to 4 gig of ram, or am I locked in a 2 gig?

It will do more for the apparent machine speed than a processor upgrade.
