I have the same problem on my Elite 8730w running Windows 7. The device manager reports the device is there but the credential manager, which should initialiase the biometrics report that the device is not installed. Regards Wim

Use Windows Update and let it update the driver for you.

Go to Control Panel and type "biometric" in top right search box.

Click on Use biometrics and follow the instructions.

Windows 7 includes out of the box fingerprint support.

I installed the SP45355 and this indicated that it was for AES1610, while the device manager indicated that the AES2810 figerprint device was installed. Please advise. Wim

I have tried the Authentic supplied driver as well but this did not work either. I have contacted HP and they advised that they have not a solution available yet and a SP will be forthcoming in due course. Hopefully soon!

All,

I've tried everything described here - still I can't get the fingerprint sensor to work on an 6730b with Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.
Currently I've installed the Authen Tec AES2810 driver version 8.0.10.9064 and HP ProtectTools Security Manager verion 4.10.10.003. Both tell me the fingerprint sensor is not installed. The Device Manager doesn't show any defects.
Any further suggestions how to get the sensor to work or news from HP support?

best regards

I finally solved the problem. I found that I forgot the BIOS Password, which the registration of the fingerprint sensor was asking for. The solution was to reset the BIOS password, by doing a "reset to factory default settings" in the BIOS setup, by using an empty harddrive. You start a clean install of an operating system. On the first restart you go into the BIOS setup and select F10. Select the reset button to factory settings and reset TPM. Now enter a new BIOS password and save. Now continue the installation of the operating system. After the installation of the HP drivers, including SP 44868, you now can scan the fingers and it worked fine on my 8730w with Windows 7. Regards Wim
