We have a few EliteBook 6930p laptops here. For some reason, they will not run out Hyundai LCD monitors through the DVI cable, but they will work with a VGA cable. The 6930p will run our older Dell LCD monitors through the DVI. So if we want to run dual monitors, we need at least one Dell. Can anybody think of a reason why this would happen?
Thanks.

How can you do this (run 2 monitors using BOTH ports) ? Do you use docking station ? Because the 6930p has only one port (see attached image) and even with docking station I'd like to know how you can connect 2 monitors w/o more hardware added.

Regards,

Yes, we are using docking stations. It has one VGA port, and one DVI port. The Hyundai monitors will not work with the DVI.
Thanks.

Hi,

I know DVI cable is DVI cable but have you tried to use a different cable ?

We tried about 3 different cables. Didn't make any difference.

Thanks

From this I could say Hyundai monitor connectors may NOT use standard DVI "protocols". I definitely return them and buy other ones.

KJJ,
AFAICS using a second monitor may not work because your computers just do not have DVI support on board.

Docking stations normally only have throughput for video and no extra graphics adapter of their own.

I'd suggest to call the HP hotline and ask if DVI is possible with your model(s).

Rainald
P.S. As you did not say which type of docking station you are using I could not check the Specs :-(
