Hi all
I want to install my laserjet 5si on my LAN on a print server JetDirect ex plus J2591A.
Currently my printer is installed directly on my PC on the parrallel port.
I have upgraded the JetDirect firmware and when I try to install the printer using the software CD that came with the print server, it detects the print server and the printer right, but the installation fails when it tries to finally create the printer. (I selected to use the currently installed driver). The error code it shows is "S1225"
Please help me; mail me at mubashir@xybermoguls.com
Thanks

Try downloading the HP standard port monitor.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/hpspm98.exe for win9X and ME
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/hpspmnt.exe for NT4 and 2K??

After installation, simply install the printer and add the HP Standard TCP/IP port manually.
In NT4 and 2K you can already add the port during the printer installation. while selecting the port choose add port/other etc.

Also make sure that the TCP/IP config is ok, although I suspect it is, since you were able to upgrade the firmware on the Jetdirect box

Install the port where you normally add a network printer within on Windows NT or Windows 2000.

Start -> Settings -> Printers -> Add Printer -> My Computer -> Add Port -> HP JetDirect Port...

Thanks a lot
I would get the installations right now .. but I have a little confusion.

when should I add the port ..
I was mentioning the installation of printer which is carried out by the program I ran to install the printserver from its CD.
and I did not see any options to add ports over there

please could you help me more with it
