I forgot the password I have for windows log on and as such I cannot get into my computer...I can't do the "Reset Password Disk" thing from one pc and use it to another...is there a way around it? Please help because I really don't want to re-install Windows XP!
Your help would be MOSTLY appreciated!
Nicholas

Hi Nicholas
Probably a couple ways, but simplest to me and how I would do it.Restart your pc,tap the F8 key as it is powering up,at the options screen, choose Safe Mode. Here you will see Administrator logon and your own, choose Administrator.Once in Windows create a new logon account for yourself with no password for now.Control Panel,User Accounts.
If you have files in the old acct My Documents folder that you need you can copy them over to new acct.
Restart and logon using new acct.Once you are sure you have everything you need copied over, you can just delete the old acct logon.

Many people may be alarmed to read this answer, but keep in mind that if a PC isn't secured physically and/or it's data encrypted, nothing is really protected.

I suggest you check out the various boot floppy/CD solutions documented here: http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm

They will allow you to reset (make blank) the password of any account on an XP system. Do take special note however (and this is on that page too), that access to any files encrypted with EFS will be lost.

Also note that, depending on your company policy (if this is a machine used/owned by a company), doing this sort of "recovery" may not be "allowed."

There are a lot of Windows password revealers and crackers available, but I’ve found that Windows Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
it not only supports XP, 2003, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password

You can use the ISO to burn a boot CD. Follow these instructions:

1. Download ISO file from http://www.windowspasswordsrecovery.com Windows Password Recovery Tool
2. Burn to a CD using a CD burning tool such as Nero or Roxio or MagicISO
3. Insert CD into drive and reboot.
4. You may have to select an option in the BIOS to get the computer to boot from the CD.

Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm.

Compare to many password recovery solutions. Following solution is the best and the easiest one.
1.Download Windows Password Unlocker from Password Unlocker Official site http://www.passwordunlocker.com/products/wpu.html .
2.Decompress the Windows password unlocker and note that there is an .ISO image file. Burn the image file onto an blank CD with the burner freely supported by Password Unlocker.
3.Insert the newly created CD into the locked computer and re-boot it from the CD drive.
4.After launched the CD, a window pop up with all your account names(if you have several accounts); select one of the accounts that you have forgotten its password to reset it. Just one press, you have removed the password.
