I have a NX6125 with an X300 chipset integrated. But for some reasons it displays it as X200 in the system properties.
I believe that's why some games are so unbelievable slow. For example B&W2 is running very slow in the lowest detail settings at the lowest solutions.
I have tried both the official drivers and others(Omegadrivers), but it doesn't help.
Anyone have an idea??

well it is a bit confusing because the Radeon x200 is the chipset and the x300 is the graphics processing unit. Where in system properties is it showing the display adapter as an "x200"? Have you tried running "dxdiag" with the run command to see what it says?

Could you post a screenshot please?

Also, how much "system ram" do you have free?
and how much video-ram do you have?

The reason I ask is that the x300 must have some dedicated v-ram (and with hypermemory, can have shared as well), but the x200 has ONLY shared (no dedicated).

To find out, click START -> Run
and type: DXDIAG

click on the video tab and it will say how much video memory (v-ram) you have.

System ram will also be visible on the main screen (After running dxdiag).

Marketing information on the nx6125 maybe confusing but I will to explain the difference between ATI Mobility X300 and ATI Radeon Xpress 200M so that at least the reader who reads this thread will have a better understanding of the two unique ASIC or Chipset.

ATI Mobility Radoen X300 is a Discrete Graphics Controller with its VRAM for display. The only function for X300 is to display all the Frame Buffer data into either the LCD panel, CRT or TV.

ATI Radeon Xpress 200M is a Northbridge embedded with X300 based Graphics Controller and it consists of two unique versions:

1. RS480 is for AMD cpu.
2. RS400 is for Intel CPU.

Beside to display the Frame Buffer into to the external display device, it also communicates with the CPU and the Southbridge.

nx6125 is using ATI Radeon Xpress 200M and therefore it has an Integrated Graphics Controller inside the Northbridge.

Attached is the screen shot of Display Properties page of a nx6125 notebook and I also showed the Adapter Tab within the ATI Control Panel. In my case, I used 128MB System Memory as my Frame Buffer for this UMA system.

In reply to Clinton:
Yes, this is exactly how it shows up in my system properties.
I find it quiet confusing because absolutely no where can I see a "X300", even in DXDiag my graphics adapter is described as X200m.
I was wondering if my notebook even uses the same chipset as in "http://www.ati.com/products/mobilityradeonx300/index.html"?

I have tried to use the original ATI Mobility Catalyst, but they won't install. I have looked up the drivers information, and they DO support the X300 graphics chip. My assumption was that the NX6125 does not come with a X300, even it said so in the marketing information.

Does anyone else experience such slow 3D gaming performance???

Also in response to Joseph:

It seems the graphics adapter on the NX6125 has NO dedicated memory. Is that right?
But you said the X300 should have dedicated memory, so is it a X200 in the end??

nx6125 is not equipped with Mobility Radeon X300 and there is no VRAM on board also.

nx6125 is using a Radeon Xpress 200M Northbridge with embedded X300 based Graphics Controller.

The official marketing information does NOT say it is a ATI Mobility Radeon X300 but it says "Integrated ATI Mobility Radeon X300".

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF04a/321957-64295-89315-321838-f33.html

"Integrated ATI Mobility Radeon X300" means your Graphics Controller is embedded inside your Northbridge as an Integrated Graphics Controller or your embedded Graphics Controller is based on X300.

Since it is an Integrated Graphics Controller system, the Graphics Performance will NOT be the best for any extensive 3D gaming. You may able to increase your Gaming performance if you increase your UMA size or Shared Memory Space for your Integrated Graphics Controller to 128MB. However you do need at least 512MB system memory before you can increase it to 128MB.

Hmm,

maybe I was fooled by the wording "X300". I really thought that I had bought a notebook with a nice 3D graphics card...

Thanks anyway for the information.
