Can the syslogs be sent to a log file and to a network collector.

Hi Joe:

Yes, see the 'syslogd' manpages. You can forward messages to another host.

interesting. but sir, how do u filter the log let say only critical alerts and send to mail would appreciate you can advice on the script u use.

1.The Syslog files can be sent using sendmail ( mailx).
2.Using FTP/RCP/SCP & etc...
Many ways to send the log file.
3.using DSAU.

I looked at the article and it described advance feature, but did not specifically indicate how to ocnfigure syslog-ng to log to disk and to a network device.

Its mentioned that,
  for BUGS
      If you find any, please send email to the syslog-ng mailing list at
      syslog-ng@lists.balabit.hu
