I recently obtained a scanned copy of the "LaserJet Series II Printer (HP 33440) and LaserJet III Printer (HP 33449) Combined Service Manual", HP part #33449-90906 as a .PDF file. Trouble is, 36 of the 414 pages are corrupted and can't be read. Acrobat reports, "Insufficient data for an image" on some of the corrupted pages, and "Too few operands" on others. I'd really like to obtain a valid file, or copies of the missing pages, either as scanned file(s) or in hard copy. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.
- John

I have a Manual it is in PDF format. I have offered manuals before but have had problems transfering them due to size of file limits imposed by some ISP's. You are welcome to have a copy if you like.
Hi John,
I am desperate for this and a part manual is better than none.
I wonder if you would be good enough to email me what you have as an attachment. As this will be a large attachment I have an email address which will accept. this is:
kts@helton.org.uk.
Your help would be appreciated and if I come across anything I will contact you.
I have raised this point today in about 12 Newsgroups so something might turn up.
Regards,
TK
Thanks to everyone who responded. I've since located a clean copy.
Jules - thanks for the offer, but I, too, have found it difficult to transfer large files via e-mail.
Kathy - I was aware of the hard copy aailable from HP, but considering I paid $10 for the printer at a yard sale, I was loathe to cough up $59 for the manual - especially when I KNEW it had to be available in .PDF format somewhere.
Did you ever find the HP LJ II/III service manual? My trusty III has broken with service error 50 and from what I read on the internet it seems like a fairly easy problem to fix. It seems rather odd that HP does not make service manuals for old printers downloadable - I would expect that the owner of a 10 year old printer is more likely to need the service manual and it won't create much more site traffic. As has been said, it seems a bit steep to charge $70 for something that used to be free.
Can anyone help locate this manual? Anyone inside HP able to upload it to an FTP site somewhere? I'd be eternally grateful - up to now HP has been exemplary at meeting its customer's requirements, but the logic here seems to be somewhat backwards.
You can get the service manual in .PDF format from Paul Gelsman at aplus@optonline.net. He has an extensive collection of service manuals (HPO, Lexmark, and one other brand that I don't remember), all at pretty reasonable prices. He used to only offer them on CD, but has recently set up a download service.
As to the Service Error 50, it can be caused by a variety of things, all associated with the fuser. FixYourOwnPrinter.com provides some possible solutions, but not all. Typical causes of failure (not necessarily in order of liklihood of occurrence) are a burned-out fuser lamp; malfunctioning temperature sensor on the fuser assembly; failed fuser power supply (more often than not, a failed triac); failed fuser power supply safety board (more often than not, failure of one or both electrolytic capacitors on the board); loose fuser cables. In my case, the service error was the result of a failed electrolytic capacitor on the safety PCB (it cost me about $1 at a local electronics surplus place).
Do you still have a good copy of the HP Laserjet III Service manual ?
HOw can i get a copy of that from you ?
or can you direct where i can DL it in PDF format
You can get it, along with a bunch of other useful stuff, from Paul Gelsman at aplus@optonline.net, per my posting above, and all for a heck of a lot less than the $59 HP charges for a hard copy of the combined service manual alone.
