Hello,
Do you guys remember the command to bring the CDE like session drawn into your windows xp desktop.
I already export my display variable to my PC..
#export DISPLAY=<my ip>:0:0
I am running Reflection X, now I have a connection to my server, and the only thing I see is a terminal like window from reflcetion X. But I remember there was a command that I could type in this window to show me like a CDE session of the server.
Thanks,
Luis Nassar

All you really have to do is open your Reflection X Client manager and select an XDMCP Broadcast session or an XDMCP Direct Session and [Connect] and you should get a CDE login. It may be necessary to first run an xhosts + command on the server. |

Hi,
i dont't know Reflection X but have connetctions like this running with XMing. The key is XDMCP as Clay said.
For some more information you might find Wikipedia useful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XDMCP
Hope this helps

You have to be sure what you need. If you want to run a CDE session at your Windows machine, 2 things need to be done: 1. Enable XDMCP at your Unix server. If you have GNOME installed then you can enable XDMCP from GDM configuration tool. 2. Install a Terminal Server client on your Windows machine. One is available at http://www.linuxtsc.org
On the other hand,if you just want any of your local (Unix) X apps to display on a Windows machine, you need to export your DISPLAY variable to point to that machine and install a X server application (http://www.cygwin.com). Make sure that you permit the Unix machine to use your Windows X server; by running xhost + <Unix IP/name> on Cygwin shell. |

Shalom,
XDMCP is blocked by many VLAN network schemes, designed to reduce network connection.
Direct connection will have to be used if this is the case.

Your HPUX server mush have CDE installed and running.
Also when you start ReflectX there is an direct and indirect query of the CDE/X-Server for you to select to connect to. If this is not what you're seeing then thats the issue in how your ReflectX session is configured.
