I recently added a duplexer to a hp4000n, reconfigured it on the printer itself and also in the software on the computer. I ran a configuration printout from the computer and it printed the 2 pages back to back like it should. However, I can't seem to get the duplexer to work on pages sent from the computer. Is there something else I have to reset or reconfigure? Have been trying to use MS Word. Printer has 4 meg installed.

I do not know what you mean by software on the computer. You have to go the properties of the printer driver by right clicking on the printer icon and then scroll down to properties and left click. Now go to device settings and under installable options change the default duplex from not installed to installed and save. Now when you go to print you go to file print and then there should a choice for duplex where you can choose long or short edge and it should work.
By Software, I meant the driver software for the HP 4000 on the computer. I did finally find the "print both sides" in Word and that was it. Thanks for the help.
