Hi
I've server A (Model 9000/898/K370) whose ignite image I need to rstore to another server B (Model 9000/800/N4000-55).
I need to know whether this restoration is possible since there is hardware mismatch.

I would have to say that the odds are against this succeeding. There is simply to great a difference in the hardware.
I also have to wonder why so many people insist on trying to do these clonings. You have the two servers side by side. Simply install hp-ux onto the target server and then copy over your customized environments from the source server and be done with it. Any business data that needs to be brought over shouldn't be on your Ignite tape anyway so that would have to be restored in either case.

The rp class hardware is even more different from the K370 than the N class, so I would again say no. Both the rp and the N were the next generations beyond the K, moving into cell-based architectures, different I/O buses, etc. You're going to have to find another antique like your K (perhaps a D box?) in order to test this.

Shalom,
There are significant hardware differences here.
What matters is the OS version and ignite version.
Both systems are PA-RISC, and later versions of the OS/Ignite should be able to do this.
You could take a Golden Image. This is less hardware dependent and more likely to work.

It could possibly work. What version of 11.11 do you have? If your are also running a recent patch bundle and maybe some recent disk and lan software/drivers via Application Releases, maybe.
Also, is the K class running 32-bit or 64-bit? Could be a showstopper if 32-bit, because the newer N and rp servers run 64-bit only. |

Hi,
Even though your servers completely match , and one of them main server other backup server, it is not good idea to restore backup from main server ignite backup. I experienced this scenario nowadays, probably there is something not match between servers will affect to restored server. Some software configuration, forgotten IP setups ..etc |
