I am trying to Ignite an older Superdome System with PARISC Processors. The version is 11.31 VSOE Sep 2009. I have an Itanium 11.31 Server acting as my Ignite Server and had followed the process for setting up the install kits on the IUX Server.

Lan boot -- fine.
Everything looked fine until about a sixth of the way. It always abends on the step below.

Any idea?

* Installing fileset "scsiU320.SCSIU320-KRN,r=B.11.31.0909" (257 of

Alzhy,

Looks like you need to upgrade the firmware for the scsi interface(s), scsiU320 of the superdome.

As per server support matrix , all PA - Superdomes are supported for 11iv3. However it may be an issue with the old firmware.
Sever Support Matrix:

If the system already having 11.23 , you can run msv2v3check script ( v2 to v3 upgrade assesment script ) , and to get support from HP with the result.

Hth,
Raj.

Alzhy,

Again , the HP-UX 11i v2 to 11i v3 Mass Storage Check Utility msv2v3check checks if all mass storage controllers and devices on your HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) system are compatible and supported with HP-UX 11i v3 (B.11.31). Additionally, the HP-UX 11i v2 to 11i v3 Mass Storage Check Utility checks if any mass storage device fimware upgrades are required before installing HP-UX 11i v3 on your system.

You can download and veriy using the below script:

Cheers,
Raj.

Raj,

Tried it on a newer SuperDome - same issue.

I remember I had no issues at all with the March 2009 11.31 Release. But I can't recall if it was a media install or Ignite Install.

11.31 VSOE Sep 2009 : is very latest. What is the version of Ignite-ux , is there anything mentioned in the release notes. I heard 11iv3 Sept 2009 release 5, having lot of enhancements. You can try a media install with the samet set and see what happens.

Shalom,

I just built an Ignite Server on an Itanium Superdome that services 11.31,11.23,11.11, where applicable, PA-RISC and IA64/Itanium.

Looks to me like bad media got swcopied into the install archive.

Can you outline the process by which you built the Ignite Install kit for 11.31 PA-RISC?

I've been where I am six weeks and have been mostly replicating existing systems to create new ones. But this is clearly something we can do and its supported.

Shalom SEP:

1. ISO'd the 3 DVD media for 11.31 VSOE Sep 2009
2. mounted each ISO as /cd1 to /cd3
3. swinstalled same version of IUX that is on DVD set
4. make_depots each cd1 to cd3 to same location (make_depts -r B11.31 -s /cd1 .../cd3)
5. make_config
6. manage_index

Even tried swcopy of the 3 ISOs to a depot and use Ignite to automate the above but same resulty sir.

I did not have an issue with the March 2009 release.
