Mario,

Scanner error 5 indicates that your scanner is not able to detect the sensor inside the printer. This could be because the sensor is blocked by debris or the motor of the scanner is damaged and does not pull the scanner back into the correct position.

When you turn on the scanner can you hear any kind of grinding noise by the scanner? If so then you will have to replace the motor or the gears that move the scanner back and forth. It is most likely going to be easier and safer to replace the whole scanning assembly.

If there is no noise then you might be able to clean the scanner to fix the problem. Post back and let us know if you can hear any unusual sounds when starting up the 2727.

Thanks!
