Hi All,

I would like to purchase Hp VSE OE for 4 cores (BL 860)
Can anyone shed some light ragarding the license cost.

1)The Blade server is came with Base OE ,in this case purchasing only IVM software for 4 core will be cheeper ?(i read some where that IVM is actually comes with BOE)

2)will the VSE OE license includes the license for running as many HPUX guests with BOE/VSE OE on the same VM Host?

3)I believe ,oracle license counts on pysical cores and no separate license required for running multiple instance on the Vm guest ,is it true?

Appreciate your comments

Johnson

1) + 2)

Contact a HP sales representative. Only HP can determine which pricing options and discounts might be applicable to you.

A package deal of everything you'll need will almost certainly be cheaper than ordering each item separately at full list price.

Yes, You need at maximum 2 Oracle licenses to run Oracle Database Enterprise Edition on this configuration (core licesning factor for Itanium = 0.5 therefore 4 x 0.5 = 2)

Of course VMs count as hard partitioning for Oracle licenses, so if you only want to run Oracle on 2 cores, create a VM with max 2 cores configured and you can pay for only 1 license (2 x 0.5)

Licensing VSE-OE for all cores on the host gives you unlimited use of Base/VSE-OE guests on that host.
