I'm looking for a third-party that would store my company's MPE backup tapes (DDS and DLT) and provide occasional restores onto their systems an as-needed basis. The idea is to eliminate our MPE systems as we migrate to an ERP but still provide a way to access archived data if necessary. Does anyone know of any companies that provide such a service?

Hello Scott, I have the same question. I am also looking for a third-party in the Netherlands. We also want to have a look at the Rosetta product from orbit Software. It's able to restore HP3000 data on a HP9000. (at least that what they say)
i believe both of the major third-party vendors that offer archive products -- orbit and roc software -- have products that will allow *their format* tapes/dlts to be read on hp-ux (maybe others?) machines. i'd recommend contacting both companies for additional information.
There is another product, called X-Over from Allegro Software Consultants, written by Stan Seiler, which can read older MPE/iX tape format and translate to DLT. I would suggest you contact them as well.
As far as 'holding' your tapes for recovery as needed, I have not yet heard of any of the 3000 related vendors offering such a service. Perhaps you could also place this question to the 3000-L@raven.utc.edu listserv.
