Author Subject: installing the 8200e usb problems      Add to my favorites

I boot in to windows ME and insert the usb cable for my 8200e, windows finds a usb device called "HP mesa" and asks for the drivers i insert the floppy with the drivers on and it says that "the drivers do not contain information for this device" i have tried manually installing the hp usb hub then the 8200e usb drivers but this causes a windows protection fault can anyone help?

Andy,

Are you using the right drivers for your 8200e?
Have you tried to plug in the cable first and then startup Windows?? Try to download the newest version of your drivers and try again.

Let me know what happened.

Thanks for replying!

i have both tried booting with the cable in and inserting the cable after windows has loaded the drivers i have are the ones currently on the hp site (attached).
ive also tried different usb ports and checked my bios checked for conflicts etc but no luck im just about ready to throw the lot in the bin and never use HP equipment again!!

Just remembered,
It seems that windows is looking for some kind of mesa bridge drivers maybe pci to usb? which i think is the euiosmsd.inf as it contains the line USB_PDR.DeviceDesc="HP Mass Storage Class Adapter"

maybe i have to install this first in some way?
